White Plaster is a good choice for most homeowners. It is the classic look for a pool. The white plaster is also very durable and smooth to the touch. The only drawback is that it will react to chemical imbalances of the pool and could easily stain if you are not careful.
Before plastering the pool, it has to be prepared. The whole pool bowl has to be cleaned. It has to be washed and vacuumed. After that, polyethylene plastic has to be put around the perimeter of coping to avoid spattering any white plaster onto the slate. Mixing White Portland cement and white sand or crushed limestone in ratio of 3:4 the plaster is made.
The ratio of the mixture depends on the coarseness of the sand. Then the plaster is splattered around the pool. Stilts are worn to avoid getting plasters on the feet. To even out the plaster the pool is troweled. The thickness of the first layer must be roughly an eighth of an inch thick. It is to be kept in mind that the plaster has to be coated beginning with the edges.
After the several coatings, the air bubbles are supposed to be troweled out using foam around the shoes. The surface is further smoothed out using steel trowels while wearing terry cloth towels around the shoes. As soon as the pool is plastered, water can be filled. The swimming pool can be filled using a truck that fills the pool about in an hour and a half with about 18,000 gallons.
That is all you have to do for pool plastering in NJ. The pool dries up and becomes solid. This is quite an essential part to follow. If your plaster color is in contrast with your pool surroundings, it makes your whole pool experience a wholesome experience.
